Thriving Communities Program

Western Reserve Land Conservancy is dedicated the conservation of vibrant natural areas, preservation of working farms, and building of healthier cities. The Land Conservancy’s Thriving Communities program was created to restore urban and suburban communities devastated by the fallout from the foreclosure crisis. In just seven years, the program has helped create 53 land banks; raised $440 million for blight remediation; conducted vacant property surveys in Cleveland, Akron, and other cities; conducted ground-breaking research on the impact of blight; created an innovative urban tree planting program; and led one of the nation’s best examples of cross-sector collaboration with local government.
